St. Martin WR Kalem Reddix decided to open up his commitment a few weeks ago after pledging to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles after a Junior Day visit.
His decision, he said, was not based on anything other than he just didn't feel settled yet in his decision. As he picked up more offers, his confidence in where he wanted to spend his college career continued to shrink, and he felt it was best that he opened things up.
The Southern Miss coaches haven't stopped pursuing the talented WR, however, and after a visit to USM he left with a good feeling about the program.
"Everything went real good on my visit to Southern Miss," he told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"I enjoyed my time there. I was able to see Coach Lindsey and Coach Hopson and they were real positive with me."
Reddix was making the visit to participate in a 7 on 7 tournament. While there, he also took another tour of the facilities.
"Southern Miss is still one of my top schools," he said. "I'm going to stay open in my recruiting but I'm still very much high on Southern Miss."
Since he's opened things up, he has added offers to MTSU and UAB.
Reddix did not give any timetable for a final decision.
