July could be a very big month for Southern Miss and recruiting

Here are 10 prospects to watch over the next month for Southern Miss..

Southern Miss has followed up July 4th fireworks with their own version of a show.  The Golden Eagles have added three more into the commitment fold and are building some huge momentum heading into the 2016 football season.

July has a chance to be epic recruiting wise.  Many prospects have been right on the edge or have named USM in their top school's list.  With another Elite camp coming up on July 22nd, it appears the Golden Eagles might bring a few more on board.

Here is a list of 10 prospects who appear to be close to committing to Southern Miss..

The skinny:  Goodson has picked up early offers to Memphis and Southern Miss, and those two have remained at the top for him through his recruiting.  The South Panola product has a world of talent, but is only 5'11.  Ole Miss is a school to watch as they've shown a lot of interest as well.

The skinny:  David's first offer was to Southern Miss, and he took a visit for Junior Day and came away very impressed.  The speedy defensive back has always had great things to say about USM.  With more offers pouring in (he's now almost at double digits), he's certain to wait the process out and might not decide until January.  He recently came out and named USM in his top 6.

The skinny:  A lot can still happen, but the talented Sean Bouie was very clear about his intentions to commit to USM.  He said he was going to commit on his visit later in July.  He also has an offer to Syracuse.  We will see if he stays true to his word later this month.

Darquavion Davis picked up an offer to Southern Miss after Junior Day, and he's remained in close contact since then.  He'll be visiting and taking in a camp later in July.  He also is close to an offer from Mississippi State, and also has some military offers including Air Force.  Davis is a nice prospect who Hopson has known from his time at Alcorn.

Mixon is an intriguing prospect with a ton of upside.  The talented lineman has double digit offers, but has spoken very highly of Southern Miss.  He has an official visit set up in July, so that will certainly be one to watch.  He's a very impressive lineman who will be one of the top prospects out of Alabama at his position.

Wallace is a prospect who has had Southern Miss on his sights from the get go.  He recently took in a camp at Mississippi State and they are showing a lot of interest.  He's picked up several new offers as well including one to Kansas.  USM was his first offer, and he said he'd like to decide around the beginning of the season.  The Golden Eagles will be right there and a huge factor in his decision.

http://www.scout.com/player/208564-d-von-mccullough?s=358

D'Von McCullough is the perfect size for the hybrid position Coach Hop and his staff are looking for on the defensive side of the ball.  He recently picked up an offer to Southern Miss and has since set up a visit date.  He's very intrigued by the offer, and said they are a top school for him at this time.  Don't be shocked to see the staff make a hard push at him because with his 6'3, 220 frame, he's going to be a tremendous LB prospect.

http://www.scout.com/player/210048-hayden-merchant?s=358

Merchant was a former South Alabama commit who decided to open things up after Southern Miss made the offer.  He's always held USM as a "dream school" for him, and the Eagles will be very much in the mix with him.  Merchant is a talented offensive guard, and the staff is looking to hit the trenches hard in this recruiting class.  I'd give the Eagles an excellent shot at him.

http://www.scout.com/player/200535-isaiah-woullard?s=358

Woullard picked up the home town offer when Southern Miss saw him at camp and loved his speed and versatility.  The Golden Eagles will be right in the mix as he's very excited about his local school making the offer.  He'll be at many games this fall and the staff is hopeful a commitment will follow.

http://www.scout.com/player/207321-travis-tucker?s=358

Travis pulled in a USM offer just after pulling in some elite catches at the USM camp.  The two way sport star is firmly on the Southern Miss radar after his performance.  He's taking another visit late in July, and an offer very well could follow.  Stay tuned.
