La'Andre Thomas of Wingfield HS in Mississippi picked up an offer after a camp in Hattiesburg a few weeks ago. He instantly named USM his leader and seemed close to committing.
Things haven't changed much in that regard for the versatile athlete from just north of Hattiesburg.
The staff offered him as a slot receiver, but Thomas could end up playing anywhere at the next level. He'll be playing QB for his high school next year, and will be used anywhere just to get the ball in his hands.
"I'm working hard this summer and really getting ready for my senior year," he told GoldenEaglePride.com. "Not much else is going on with recruiting with me, still having interest from a lot of teams but Southern Miss is my only offer other than JuCo's."
With that, they remain his clear leader.
"Most definitely, I absolutely love USM," he added.
"They are making a big push, and they are telling me they really want me to commit."
Thomas said he plans on taking one more visit to Southern Miss before the end of summer and start of fall camp at his high school. Be watching for a possible commitment on that visit.
