Southern Miss had a great showing of prospects Friday and Saturday at their final Elite camps of the summer in Hattiesburg. Prospects ranging from Junior College to sophomores in high school all poured into Hattiesburg to make one more attempt at being seen before the season.
D.J. Montgomery, WR from Holmes CC, certainly showed off his skills and made a huge impression on Coach Hop and his staff.
"It was a great camp and the competition was really strong," he told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"I feel like I did good and really competed well."
He impressed so much that soon after camp, Coach Hopson extended an offer to Montgomery.
"Coach Hopson called my coach and he told him that he wanted to offer me," he said. "I'm excited about it."
Montgomery said he also got a feel for the school in addition to taking part in the skills part of the camp.
"I was really impressed with the school itself and also in the energy of the coaching staff," he said.
"They really made a solid impression on me."
Montgomery also said he's hearing from ULL, Mississippi State, and South Alabama.
