The Southern Miss Golden Eagles have been putting a full on blitz with in-state prospects, as was expected from Coach Hopson. After today's Elite camp on campus at Southern Miss, several more in-state prospects, especially from the coast, added offers to USM.
With D'Iberville HS having one of the top prospects in Louis Paul Smith for the class of 2019, he already has a Southern Miss offer in hand. His teammate Tyler Barnes was next. The talented defensive back, (5'10, 180) also had a performance worthy of attention by the coaches.
"Today was real good," Barnes told GoldenEaglePride.com. "I still have some things to work on, but today was a real good day.
"The coaches told me that they love me and love how physical I play. They thought I am a top prospect for them and they want to schedule a visit."
Also picking up an offer was Rasheed Jackson, big time talented defensive end (6'3, 220) who the coaches believe will make a great fit in the defense down the road.
"The camp went great," Jackson said. "The coaches energy stood out to me, and it rubbed off on me as well as the other campers. I'm a competitive guy so how they had us competing was a lot of fun for me."
The coaches always make the prospects feel at home, as was evident from the reaction of Jackson.
"They told me they would love to see me in the black and gold," he said. "They told me they love how I work and how I play.
"I enjoyed USM today. It seems like they have a great sense of tradition and family."
