Southern Miss has once again landed local talent tonight in the commitment of Trevor Terry, WR from Jones County Junior College.
The talented WR made his intentions known tonight to the staff and announced it via twitter.
After a close call coming out of high school, Terry was thrilled to land an offer after a terrific performance at the Southern Miss elite camp last weekend.
"I felt good going into the camp," Terry told GoldenEaglePride.com.
"I ran good times and I ran crisp routes. I felt like my strongest area was in 1 on 1s. The coaches took high notice of me. I felt like they were watching me every time I stepped to the line. They told me that they were impressed with the amount of weight that I've put on and that they think I'd fit in well there."
There was little doubt in Terry's mind after he received the offer that Southern Miss is where he was supposed to call home for the next two seasons.
"It felt like it was meant to be," Terry said.
"I had an offer from Alcorn state out of high school when coach Hopson was there. I chose to enroll at JCJC to have a shot at going to a bigger school. Southern miss showed interest in me my senior year but the offer never came. For coach Hopson to offer me again meant the world to me because I know how much he believes in me."
Terry, who played his high school ball at Long Beach, is excited to be close to home.
"I know this is where I am meant to be, it really is a dream come true," he said.
Terry will graduate in December and plans to enroll at Southern Miss in the spring.
