Sterling Galban of Burnet, TX, was one of many prospects on hand last weekend for a big crowd in Hattiesburg and homecoming. As USM rolled Marshall out of town, prospects were able to take in the sights and sounds of game day at the Rock. Galban, who is a class of 2018 WR, for one was very impressed.
"The visit went great," he told GoldenEaglePride.com. "The fan base and atmosphere was incredible in Hattiesburg and on campus. I especially enjoyed the Eagle Walk, and the whole community shows up to it pre-game."
Galban was able to talk to the coaches and spend some time touring the facilities as well.
"They have great facilities with the brand new weight room and locker room," he added. "The coaches showed me really good hospitality and the stadium was rocking. It is just a place where I really feel I can fit in and play."
The speedy 5'10 WR, who has great hands and can be used in many ways on the offensive side of the ball, saw where he might fit into the future of the program. He's explosive and a play maker, something the coaches are really looking to find.
"The coaches talked to me about how they really see me in the offense and love what I can bring to the table," he said. "I've pretty much been in constant communication with them since I visited last summer, They were all cool. They coach with energy, and I really love the way they coach the team."
There is no doubt Southern Miss is an early favorite for the talented wide-out.
"Southern Miss is definitely a school that will be high on my list," he said. "They would be one of my top choices of any school in the country because of the way they utilize the slot in the offense. The coaches also have been building a relationship with me which goes a long way with me."
He also has interest from and has visited UTSA, Texas, Tulane, and Florida.
