Tahj Sykes has been committed to Southern Miss since the end of July, and has been steady in his pledge to the Eagles. He sealed the deal on his visit to Southern Miss this past weekend, and he talked about it with GoldenEaglePride.com.
Sykes was one of close to 15 prospects on campus this past weekend. The players took in a visit of campus, saw all the facilities, were able to spend time with current players and the coaching staff, ate really well (including Mugshots), and spent some time finding out what a night game would feel like at The Rock.
"One of the highlights for me was the way the coaches show that they really care and love their players," Sykes said of his time on campus this weekend.
"The way the classes and academics are stressed and the way they help you be successful in life was great. I just enjoyed the overall environment."
Sykes committed to Southern Miss back at the end of the summer. He was offered after being seen at an Elite camp on campus where he dominated in front of the coaches. They loved him and the feeling was mutual.
This weekend he was able to hang out with his future teammates.
"Everyone really got along well," he said. "They were all very cool and business like. You can tell we are all here because we love Southern Miss."
Sykes was hosted by Jacques Turner for the weekend.
