Talented DB Shannon Showers surprised everyone with a visit to Southern Miss, offer, and commitment after an exciting group of prospects left campus Sunday.
The 6-1 corner out of Fort White Florida pulled the trigger for the Eagles this morning. He had this to say about his commitment and visit.
"Well I had a great time here in Hattiesburg.
"Everyone I met was great from the coaching staff to the players and other students on campus. They really made me feel at home. Coach Hopson is a great man and coach. He really likes the way I play, and said I remind him of my dad."
He talked about how that relationship grew into one that was a huge connection for the two.
"Coach Hopson knows my dad from his time as a GA at Florida when my dad played there," he said.
"When I committed coach Hopson was excited and we gave each other a big hug."
When asked about what position he would play Shannon said,
"They have been recruiting me as a DB and coach has been talking more about me playing safety."
