The class of 2018 will be composed of a large group of defensive lineman, as the Golden Eagles will lose Rod Crayton, Xavier Thigpen, Derrick Dixon, Draper Riley, but also must account for the early defections of Jauan Collins, Lorenzo Dantzler and Jon Michael Edwards in those numbers. I expect the Eagles to take as many as six defensive linemen in this upcoming class.
A candidiate to be in that number is Dermont Morgan a 6-5 265 three technique defensive tackle out of Melbourne Central HS in Florida.
When asked about his recent Southern Miss offer Dermont had this to say, "When I got the offer from Southern Miss I was so excited. I didn't expect it to be an offer at first. I thought they were just looking at me for recruiting. But I am so blessed to say I have a scholarship offer to play at the University of Southern Miss."
Talking about his strengths as a player Dermont said, "I play with a high motor and use my long reach to keep offensive linemen off of me."
At 6-5 265 Dermont is a long athletic defensive tackle with the frame to be much heavier.
When asked about an opportunity to visit campus Morgan told Golden Eagle Pride, "I can't wait to check things out. I am planning to visit Southern Miss this Summer."
Dermont will be updating us this Summer after his visit.
