Talented Tupelo DE Peter Gray recently took a visit to Southern Miss for his opportunity to take in campus before the summer. He was hoping to come to Junior Day but will be unable to, so he decided to come down to take in a practice, and came away very impressed with what he saw.
"It was great I got done and was able to meet with coach Hop and that was great listening to what he had to say," Gray updated GoldenEaglePride.com.
"Then, I loved the campus, very nice campus, and I went to practice and loved how up beat everything was.
"I also loved how it moved through quick but also the coaches where very keen on the players learning while practicing."
Gray, who said he's also hearing from South Alabama, Western Michigan, Troy, Louisiana, Texas State, and Memphis, said he really is building a strong relationship with the coaching staff at USM.
"They really treated me as a friend, and that meant a lot," he said. "You know they care. They are building a program and talked about the rise back to the top and their dedication to getting Southern Miss there."
"It feels great to have someone in-state coming after me."
Gray will not be attending Junior Day at USM, but plans to take another visit this summer.
