Weaver talks about commitment

USM is losing four big time offensive linemen next season. They will be looking to a lot of young talent to fill those spots for the 2010 season. Jason Weaver will be a newcomer looked upon to fill the void.

Weaver is out of community college in Arizona and is excited about being closer to home (New Orleans).

"I am glad to be back in the south and closer to home so all my family can see me" said Weaver.

Being close to home was one factor, but the offense that USM runs was a big factor as well.

"USM runs a offense similar to mine, so hopefully I will be able to jump in a pick things up right away" said Weaver.

USM had an inside edge with Weaver from the start, however, because he will have the chance to play with an old high school buddy, Korey Williams.

"Yeah I am excited to get back with Korey and play with people that I am familiar with."

Weaver always leaned toward the Golden Eagles, but his official visit earlier in the month sealed the deal for the Juco linemen.

"The coaches were great and the facilities were great and my visit really sealed the deal for me" said Weaver.

Other schools that Weaver was getting interest from include Idaho, New Mexico, and Arizona.
