Rollins' List Taking Shape

Hakeem Rollins isn't the same guy he was when he arrived at junior college. A few inches taller, Rollins can't even believe he's being recruited at such a high level.

Rollins Surprises Even Himself

To call Mesa Junior College power forward Hakeem Rollins a late bloomer wouldn't even do justice to the phrase. In fact, Rollins isn't just a late bloomer, he's grown in stature as a prospect commensurate with his physical growth.

"I'm like 6-8 and 230," Rollins said. "When I graduated high school I was like 6-5 and 195. I played the three in high school."

Southern Illinois, Santa Barbara, Washington, Stanford, Minnesota, Oregon and Rice are on his list and chasing him. Last weekend, shortly after Missouri eliminated Southern Illinois, Rollins was on the Salukis campus for a visit.

He's already been to Santa Barbara. Washington, Stanford, Minnesota, Oregon and Rice are battling for one of his three available visits.

"Personally, it was a good year," Rollins said. "Recruiting wise I ended up at a level I never thought I'd get to really. I'm so happy and surprised at this point I could make a decision and not really go wrong with anything."

Rollins averaged 24.8 points and 9 rebounds a game last year.
