When that list does arrive, however, Garnett says every school will be even.
"Everyone's definitely on the same level in my top-10 list, no fore-runners at all right now," he said.
One of the schools that has a good shot at making Garnett's initial cut is Stanford. Scout.com's No. 1 rated offensive guard visited The Farm earlier this year for a Junior Day, and values Stanford's academic/athletic combination.
"They definitely have a very good shot at getting in that top-10, from the academic piece and also from the strength of the football program," Garnett said.
As such, it's no surprise that Garnett has maintained close contact with several members of Stanford's coaching staff.
"I've definitely had a lot of contact with Coach Bloomgren, the offensive line coach, and Coach Hart…I've talked to those guys an awful lot," Garnett said.
However, Garnett reports to talking to more representatives from Stanford than just coaches. He's also been in touch with a handful of Cardinal recruits and current players.
"I'm definitely in contact with a lot of the Stanford football players," Garnett said. "I talk to them a little bit when I see them on Facebook. Aziz [Shittu], that's one of my good friends I talk to a lot, I'm starting to add some new guys that I see on the list of committing to Stanford.
"I [also] talk to Cameron [Fleming] a little bit, he's an offensive lineman, he was kind of my host when I was down there. Definitely talk to a lot of the offensive lineman that I met down there when I was taking my trip."
If Stanford proves to be the ultimate collegiate destination for Garnett as well, he'll, of course, need to pass the school's admissions process. Garnett has already taken the first step in doing just that, however, as he's started work on the Stanford application.
"I've actually got my application and I've gotten some of the signatures for it," Garnett said. "I'm working on writing the essays, probably in the next couple of weeks.
"I'll probably submit it before probably July starts, like in the next month."
"I think I'm going to go down to Berkley, definitely go down to Stanford, head up to UCLA and USC, the California schools," Garnett said.
Garnett, who will play in the Under Armour All American game, doesn't anticipate making a commitment until later in the recruiting process.
