Fortunately for Cardinal fans, although he has multiple other offers and is still being recruited by Baylor, Gray remains a solid Stanford commit, terming his pledge to the Card "very strong".
"Recruiting has been going well; I'm still real high on Stanford," Gray said. "It seems like each week I'm getting more and more love with it, with the coaches and all that. I really can't wait to get up there for a visit."
Gray, who committed to Stanford sight unseen, plans to make his first trip to The Farm in January, for the Card's big recruiting weekend. Although he hasn't seen the campus, Gray has developed an excellent rapport with several Stanford coaches, particularly Jason Tarver, who has already made an in-home visit with Gray.
"Coach Tarver, he's a really cool dude upfront," Gray said. "I'm somewhat of a quiet dude and he talks to me and he can get something out of me. We have real great conversations."
Gray is currently in the final stages of completing his Stanford application, and hopes to submit it to the school soon.
"I'm just about done," Gray said. "I'm completing my essay right now, so I should be done with that pretty soon and hopefully try and get it sent in."
If admitted, Gray, who has followed Stanford's 11-1 season from afar, anticipates the possibility of making an early impact for the Card.
"As far as making an immediate impact, I'm sure with my speed and my catching ability I could get on the field early if I bulk up a little bit, because one thing that I see is that they don't really have a game-breaker and I feel like I could be that type of person," Gray said.
