Hoffpauir cited spending time with Stanford's current and future players and meeting Condoleeza Rice as highlights of the trip.
"I liked all the guys when I was there and all the players were cool," Hoffpauir said. "It was pretty cool, we got to listen to Condoleeza Rice speak. I took a picture with her and I got to talk to her a little bit. That was probably the most special thing there that happened, being able to do that. All the guys are cool. My host was Wayne Lyons and he treated me well, so it was cool."
Hoffpauir's official visit provided a more in-depth look at the Stanford campus and football team compared to his unofficial trips to The Farm.
"I just got to see more of the stuff that you'll be doing and where you'll live," Hoffpauir said. "The last time I went the students weren't really on campus very much and I didn't get to hang out with the players a lot, so this time was special because I got to do all of that stuff."
Hoffpauir also got to spend plenty of time with Stanford's coaching staff. Led by Lance Anderson, Hoffpauir's regional recruiter, the Cardinal coaches have been in dogged pursuit of Hoffpauir, and have formed a strong rapport with the talented defender.
"They've been recruiting me hard even after my commitment and I haven't stopped talking to them this whole time," Hoffpauir said. "I have really good relationships with a lot of them. I got to talk to Coach Mason a lot this weekend and I think he's awesome. Coach Tarver's awesome too. I like all of the coaches. Coach Shaw, I got to talk to a little bit too, and he seems like a really, really great man. I liked all of them."
Hoffpauir learned more about his possible role in Stanford's defense during those discussions.
"They said I fit in great with the defense," Hoffpauir said. "I was talking with Coach Mason a lot this weekend. He sees that I can play in the middle, play deep in zone coverage, or play down in the box. I fit whatever. They just like my physicality and the way I can tackle and my ball skills and all that. It was good talking to them and seeing where I fit in their schemes."
Hoffpauir also had plenty of time to mingle with some of his fellow recruits during the trip.
"I got to know Jordan Watkins, I talked to him earlier in the Semper Fidelis All-American bowl, and then Graham Shuler," Hoffpauir said. "I already kind of knew Blake Martinez a little bit, Aziz Shittu. All the recruits are real cool. And I talked to Drew Madhu too."
Despite the enjoyable visit, Hoffpauir said he still considers himself a Cal commit. He's less clear on what would happen should he be accepted by Stanford. A decision on his Stanford application could come down within the week.
"Right now I'm still committed to Cal," Hoffpauir said. "I'm still waiting to be admitted into Stanford. I got my application and everything in. I should hear within the next week or so. Right now I'm committed to Cal, though.
"[If I get admitted] I don't know. I'm not sure about that. We'll see. I'm waiting to get admitted."
Hoffpauir also plans to take an official visit to Arizona State before signing day.
