What can fans expect from Kevin Hogan in his second go-round? As the table below illustrates, he was very solid in some phases (red zone efficiency, completion percentage, third down efficiency) in 2012, but much still separates the Stanford offense from its Andrew Luck-led glory days (particularly in the points per game and yards per play departments). A comparison of Hogan's first effort with Luck's inaugural 2009 campaign is intriguing, as it sets the table for expectations of improvement in no. 8's second year under center. Don't miss previous Bootleg examinations of Stanford offensive explosiveness and third down efficiency.
Meanwhile, the Cardinal offensive line has the potential to deliver a special season with David Yankey moving back to his natural guard position and Andrus Peat emerging at left tackle. But much hinges on how quickly Peat adapts to a Division 1 starting position and how effectively Sam Schwartzstein's replacement at center directs the hogs up front. With a raging camp position battle just days away, we discuss anything and everything pertaining to the line in our preview.
