While one Stanford quarterback commit shined at The Opening in Davis Mills, another elite quarterback gave his verbal commitment to the Cardinal in Jack West.
The Saraland (Ala.) 2018 quarterback is a four-star recruit and held offers from over 20 schools including Alabama, UCLA, USC and Texas A&M.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound pro-style quarterback has been one of the top quarterbacks in the class for quite some time. West was on campus earlier in June, and it seems like the program, academics and aura of Stanford left an impression.
Scout analysis has this to say about West after his sophomore year:
He has the prototypical quarterback look in his size and intelligence while he’s developed a strong arm in the process. Progressing with his footwork of late, West is coming off of his first year as a starter at the prep level so the sky is the limit over the next two seasons as he continues to work on his pocket presence and when to take risks or not. But with his build, passing diversity and trajectory, he’s going to be an ideal pro-style signal-caller in college.
West is the first commitment of Stanford’s 2018 class. This would be the third-straight class with an elite quarterback on-board, joining class of 2016 K.J. Costello and 2017 quarterback Davis Mills.
