The outside linebacker said he may narrow his list down to a top-3 soon.

This time next month, Foster could be committed.

BEAVERTON, ORE. - Shelby (NC) outside linebacker Justin Foster narrowed his college options to seven schools back in May. At The Opening, he told The Bootleg he plans to release a top-three soon and could be making his decision in the next month.
Schools remaining on Foster's list are Stanford, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Tennessee. He said academics are a very high priority for him as well as the defensive system he would be playing in. Foster said a system like Stanford's that uses big-bodied edge rushers could help the 6-foot-3, 254-pound linebacker thrive.
"Anyone that can use me as an outside linebacker and bring me off the edge, that's kind of what I'm looking for," Foster said.
"I like rushing off the edge. That's mostly what I do best, affecting the quarterback, but I can come out and do a little 7-on-7."
Foster used his opportunity at The Opening to work on other aspects of his game. He wasn't able to rush the quarterback in 7-on-7 competitions so getting to cover some of the nation's most athletic players helped develop his coverage skills, something he wants to develop for the next level.
"You get to come out here against the best and see where you stand. 7-on-7 is a little bit different, we don't have all the top guys in our one state playing in our conference," Foster said. "Competing against guys who run 4.3s and 4.4s, wide receivers, that's pretty tough. It gets you ready for college to make sure you're up for it."
The outside linebacker is looking to trim down by the time he gets to the next level.
"I'm working on my speed and getting down around 240 (pounds). I'm at 250 right now and just want to keep my speed up," Foster said.
