Stanford Basketball, hot off a verbal commitment from prized Small Forward Kezie Okpala of Anaheim, has Utah Center Branden Carlson of Utah's Bingham High School on campus today for an unofficial visit. You might recognize that high school's name, as it's the alma mater of Stanford Football Tight End Dalton Schulz.
Carlson currently measures at 6'10" and 210 lbs. Scout has him ranked as a 4-Star recruit, 22nd best in the nation at Center and 4th-best in the West. Carlson would add some legit size to the Cardinal's recruiting class of 2017. Competition from the native of South Jordan, Utah, not surprisingly, includes BYU, Utah, and Utah State, all of whom have made offers. Stanford and UC-Davis round out his offer list.
Carlson would make a great addition to a Cardinal front line who in 2017 would see Michael Humphrey and Reid Travis likely departing after their fourth years on campus. He'd also be a great addition either backing up or playing alongside current Sophomore Josh Sharma and incoming Freshman Trevor Stanback.
We'll have more on Carlson's trip and recruitment as it develops.
