One of the top defensive players on the east coast pledges to the Cardinal on his official visit.

The Cardinal now have their big man in the middle for the 2017 class.

Sparta Pope John XXIII (N.J.) defensive tackle Dalyn Wade-Perry wrapped up a busy weekend with a commitment to the Stanford Cardinal.

The three-star defensive tackle took his official visit this weekend to The Farm and committed on Sunday night.

The Cardinal had been his leader for a long time, and he chose Stanford over UCLA and Florida State.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, “D-Wade” has the size and the quick feet and hands to be a disrupter in the middle for the Cardinal. Pope John XXIII head football coach Brian Carlson said Wade-Perry has the athleticism to play point guard when the team plays pick-up basketball and describes his tackle as a “dancing bear.”

This is the second defensive commitment for the 2017 class, joining Georgia safety Stuart Head.

This could be just the start of visit commits for the Cardinal. In addition to all the Stanford commits in attendance, Stanford targets on campus this weekend included outside linebacker Leonard Warner, athlete Connor Wedington, defensive end Ryan Johnson and linebacker Levani Damuni,

With offensive playmakers like Davis Mills, Walker Little, Foster Sarell, Colby Parkinson, Sione Lund and Drew Dalman, additions like Wade-Perry will help provide comparable playmakers on the defensive side as well.
