There are many words to describe four-star linebacker Jack Lamb: long, athletic, powerful, smart.
He’s also efficient.
In one trip during his spring break, he visited Stanford, Cal, Washington, Oregon and Penn State. Part of the reason for that was to not miss too much school. Part of it was to be able to compare and contrast the schools while they were all fresh in his mind.
While he said there may not necessarily be a frontrunner at this time among the schools, there was one common theme for each program.
“One thing that stuck out to me about all of the schools was all of the amazing coaching staffs everywhere you go,” Lamb said. "No matter where I go, I'll be surrounded by some really great people, so that's reassuring.”
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound four-star linebacker continues to pick up offers from Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Duke, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, UCLA, USC, Utah and Washington among others. The Cardinal have yet to offer, but Lamb made it a priority to see The Farm.
“Obviously, Stanford is a great school so that's where my main interest came from,” Lamb said. “I wanted to take a visit there, look at the campus and what not. I was really impressed. I talked to Coach Anderson and sat in the film room and watched what they have to offer. I was really impressed with what they do with their linebackers.”
“What I'm looking for is that combination of academics and athletics so it would be pretty high on my list,” Lamb said.
Lamb was a stat-filler as a junior with 117 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, four sacks and an interception. His large frame and unique skill set make him a highly-touted and one of the best linebackers in the West.
“I'm not a stereotypical inside linebacker,” Lamb said. “I'm a little bit taller, a little bit more lengthy, so I play the game a little bit faster. I'm pretty instinctive, I've played linebacker for a while and I know what I'm doing and I'm a pretty experienced back there.”
Lamb hopes to visit other schools this summer but doesn’t have anything set in stone.
