Cypress Springs (Tex.) wide receiver and defensive back Taye Barber has picked up offers left and right recently. From Stanford to Ole Miss, these programs add to the likes of Clemson, Iowa State, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah and Wisconsin, among many others.
While he played quarterback, wide receiver, defensive back, kick returner and punter, the 2018 athlete is recruited by the Cardinal to play defensive back.
“I would describe myself as a versatile, ball-hawking, and just a overall freak on the field ! I'll do anything the coaches ask me to be best of my ability!” Barber said in a text.
Standing at 5-foot-9.5 and 175 pounds, Barber may not be the biggest guy on the field, but he makes big plays.
His junior year, he had over 1,178 total yards, 12 total touchdowns and two interceptions as a defensive back.
It’s still early in his recruitment, and he doesn’t have any frontrunners.
“Not yet, I'm still getting a feel for all of them right now ! Want to go visit some places sometime during the summer,” Barber said.
The athlete holds over 20 offers and said he holds a 4.2 GPA, with that mix of athletics and academics, he took notice of Stanford’s offer.
“This Stanford offer means a lot to me, not just only for football but for academics too, their great coaching staff, their ability to win games,” Barber said. “They have a great institution for academics.”
