Eubanks Close to Narrowing List

When it comes to recruiting rankings and the NFL Draft, offensive tackles always seem to come first. Still, the guys on the inside are not forgotten, including Rafael Eubanks. With several impressive offers, Eubanks is nearly done narrowing his list. With high academics and athletic ability, he has been a Stanford target, but how does he feel about the Cardinal?

One of the nation's premier guard/center prospects, Rafael Eubanks currenty sits with twelve offers. While he is more than satisifed with the programs that have currently offered, there is one program he will be keeping tabs on.

"I attended the Notre Dame camp, and performed very well," said Eubanks. "They told me they only want to sign four tackles this year, but if they decide I'm better than any of their options at tackle, then I will receive an offer. They want to wait and see some senior film, but if they offered they would join my top list of schools."

Who are Eubanks current top list of schools?

"My family and I have sat down the past couple days trying to narrow down my list, but we are not yet ready to say anything. I have not ruled out any school, and am still willing to listen to anybody."

"If I had to name the schools at this moment that stand out, they would be Minnesota, Iowa, Stanford, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Miami(FL). That is nothing against any other school as it is not my final list."

What are his thoughts on each of those six programs?

Minnesota: "I definitely like their blocking schemes and the way they use their offensive lineman. They do a lot pulling, especially with their guards, and that is the strongest point of my game."

Iowa: "They have a lot of great things going on for themself right now. Coach (Kirk) Ferentz came from being a NFL offensive line coach so you know the type of experience he brings. Coach (Reese) Morgan is a great line coach, as well, and not many people know about Chris Doyle, their strength and conditioning coach, but he is awesome, too."

Stanford: "Definitely, their academics stand out the most. Academics are very important to my family and I and you can't get much better than a Stanford degree. It also doesn't hurt that it is out in sunny California."

Maryland: "I really have developed a good relationship with their offensive line coach, Tom Bratton. He use to be the offensive line coach at Stanford, and has a built a great relationship with all the coaches at Cretin-Durham. I continue to hear a lot good things about Coach Bratton and Maryland. They are an upcoming program in the ACC."

Wisconsin: "A good reason they are one of the schools is because they are close only being four hours away. My parents would be able to see all of the home games. I've been on a visit there once for a junior day, but I hear their gamedays are crazy and it is exciting to know you'll be playing in front of that crowd. I really like Coach (Jim) Hueber, and on my visit I was able to speak with Marcus Coleman, who plays offensive line there and is from Wayzata, and he had a lot of good things to say about Wisconsin."

Miami(FL): "Art Kehoe, their offensive line coach, is really good friends with the offensive line coach here at Cretin-Durham (Andy Bischoff). Coach Bischoff has gone down to work their camp for the past five years, and he sent them my highlight tape. I guess they were greatly impressed. My teammate, Reggie Rock, is going down to visit family in Cape Coral on August 2nd, and I may join him so I can take an unofficial visit there."

Lastly, what will be the main criteria used by Eubanks in making his decision?

"My family and I want a good school that has good academics. My position coach will also have a lot to do with my decision in how he will prepare me for the next level."
