With July over, we start to move our attention from evaluations to recruiting once again. Most kids in the U.S. are done with their summer basketball, but Canada's top player, Ryan Wright, still has provincial play up North. Afterwards, he says he will be trimming his school list. Currently there are eight schools on his plate; soon there will be four.
It's been a productive summer for 6-foot-8 power forward Ryan Wright
, a senior out of Ontario's Loyola Catholic. Wright checked in at No. 55 in the class before the summer began and is likely to remain in our mid-August released Top 100.
With big programs chasing him during July, Wright's list stands at 8 programs. The interested parties are UCLA, Michigan State, Michigan, Stanford, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin and Georgia Tech.
"I'm probably going to look [cut my list] after this training camp ends with my provincial team," Wright said.
"I'll probably be looking to trim it down to about for in a week. I'll take officials back to those four in the fall and I'll decide from there."
Wright indicated that there are only two definite schools to make his list: UCLA and Michigan State. After that, there are six schools vying for two open spots.
"At this point, every school has done all that they can. It's my decision at point."
Factors that will be weighed in include playing time (wants to get minutes his first two years, but doesn't have to start), academics and coaching.
