Isaiah Dahlman, a 6-foot-6 wing prospect out of Braham (Minn.) Braham Area, is a big time 2006 target. With an athletic family history and a smooth jump shot to 3-point range, recruiters from across the country are excited about him.
"I have some colleges but I haven't really decided who is on the list and who is off of it," Dahlman said. "I don't really have a set list."
But he does have a number of schools that are trying to get on his list. For instance, Michigan State, Minnesota, Boston College, Kansas, North Carolina State, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Syracuse, Iowa and Wisconsin are in the hunt.
It's refreshing to listen to Dahlman talk about his college career. Winning is such an important deal to him and getting a ring drives him. "I'm looking up lots of information on the schools and trying to see what schools are like. I 'm looking for a school that has a good basketball program and has a chance to win a national championship. I really want to do that. I want to come in and fit in and have fun.
"My long term goal has always been to win a national championship in college."
Dahlman's family knows a little about championships. His grandfather collected his share of them when he coaches the Minneapolis Lakers. His grandfather is a member of the National Basketball Hall of Fame. Dahlman's father also played in college.
Now, the spotlight turns to the junior with range, savvy and a big upside. "Most of the college coaches said I could play 1 thru 3 but my position is two guard."
Dahlman said he's locking in on the season and will pretty much shut down his recruitment while his team is playing. However, upon completion of his junior year, look for him to take a few official visits.
