Eight Electrifying Questions

She's back on the court, though she never left your hearts. Susan Borchardt is both a talent and an emotional engine that can push this Stanford Basketball team to heigher heights. But behind the basketball, how much do you know about this super senior? You know about the wedding, but Eight Electrifying Questions brings you more as we put Susan on the spot.

1. How did you spend your summer?

I spent my summer at basketball camps with Curtis. We did a couple in Minnesota and then one in Utah. We also bought a house, so we worked on that.

Where did you buy a house?

In Murray, Utah.

How's married life treating you?

It's been good. This was actually the first time where we had a normal summer together because we got married the summer before that, so it was really hectic. It's been great. We worked out a ton together, visited our families, and just worked on the house. It was really fun.

When you say working on the house, is it a fixer-upper, or…

No, no. It's brand-new. Just working with the interior designer lady and getting everything moved in from our apartment and stuff. It's a big job!

2. Is the dunk good for women's basketball?

Is the dunk good for women's basketball? I can't really say…

Well, what I mean is Candace Parker won the McDonald's High School Dunk contest and a lot of other girls are more athletic and starting to dunk. Do you think it is a good progression for the game?

I think it is exciting that you are seeing girls who are upping the athletic ability. But I also think that part of the women's game is that we don't rely on that. Passing is more key to our game and things like that. I think it is exciting for the most part. Yeah, it's a good thing.

3. What CD are you embarrassed to admit that you own?

I don't know! I don't think I have any to be embarrassed to own, to be honest.

What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to… mostly girly stuff and a little bit of rap, since I have two brothers and Curtis.

So define "girly stuff."

Umm… Ok, ok. I guess Britney Spears. That one I'm a little bit embarrassed to own.

4. You're about to go on a European backpacking trip for 3 months. What are three essential things you will need to survive?

Let's see.. a hair tie, a big container of water, and running shoes… no, I'm going to change the first one. How about my husband, a big container of water, and my running shoes.

5. Do you have any superstitions, either pre-game or in life?

Not too much. I'm not a really superstitious person so no, not really.

No jersey numbers that you have or anything like that?

Well, I'm No. 24 and I've always kind of had that, but… no, not really. Sorry.

6. What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?

Most embarrassing thing… let's see… Let me think about that. Can you come back to that one?

7. It's 3AM and you can't go to bed. What would you pop into your VCR or DVD player?

Anne of Green Gables.

Why's that?

It's my favorite movie. We own the whole series.

What about it do you like?

I don't know. We always used to watch it when I was little and it was the first movie that Curtis and I watched together.

8. Do you have any nicknames? Who gave them to you?

Everyone on the team just calls me "Sus."

Going back to the previous question… think of anything embarrassing that's happened to you? Anything with Curtis or your teammates?

At our wedding… what's it called when you take the garter… the Garter Dance at my wedding.

Why was that embarrassing for you?

Because Curtis definitely did a little dance and uh… it was funny.
