Taylor Harrison Update

6'9" forward/center Taylor Harrison is becoming one of the top posts in the West for 2006, as we saw with both his play and the coaches attending his games last weekend in Las Vegas. Several Pac-10 schools, including Stanford, are on his trail. Read on for his latest...

Taylor Harrison, 6-9 JR C San Clemente (Calif.) High, has improved tremendously in the last couple years, to the point that he's now one of the top post prospects in the west for 2006. Harrison was very impressive this past weekend in Las Vegas and several new schools are looking to get involved with him.

We spoke with Harrison last night and asked him about the schools recruiting him.

"Cal is my leader," said Harrison. "I'm also looking at UCLA and Stanford. Boston College and USC have just started to get involved. I think there are a couple more since the weekend, but I just got back and haven't talked to my coach."

Harrison said a few schools are visiting him this week.

"Oregon State and Cal came to my school today," said Harrison. "UCLA will be in on Wednesday."

We asked Harrison what he is looking for in a program.

"Mainly how comfortable I feel going into the situation," replied Harrison. "I want to know that I won't have any regrets in the future. I feel that wherever I go I'll earn playing time. And I'd like to go someplace where the degree will mean something."

Harrison went on to say, "Part of the reason Cal is my leader is that Ben Braun has been recruiting me from the beginning. He's been the one handling my recruitment, along with Joe Pasternak."

We asked Harrison if he has a timeframe for making the decision.

"No, I'm not sure when I'll decide," said Harrison.

Harrison has taken two unofficial visits to Cal, along with unofficial visits to Stanford and UCLA. "I think I'll take an official visit to Cal sometime in the next couple weeks," said Harrison.

When asked which programs have offered a scholarship, Harrison replied, "Cal has offered. A couple other schools have said they want me, but there hasn't been a firm offer like with Cal."
