"For right now both Texas and Stanford lead heavily," said Harris, from Bowie High School.
"I like the great academics at Stanford and how they're getting a great recruiting class going there right now," he said. "I think if I went there I could have a big effect on it. I also really like Coach (Walt) Harris. I think I've established the best relationship with him out of any of the other coaches there so far," he said.
"I went to Los Angeles last summer to visit my dad while he was there on business," he said. "I've never been to the Bay Area of California though. Stanford has been recruiting me hard and strong ever since the beginning of all of this. It would be absolutely magnificent to have Coach Harris as my QB coach. I love programs that have the head coach as a position coach as well.
"Coach Harris has also told me that they're going to focus their offense around the quarterback more, and not the other way around. I appreciate that because that's what I'm looking for when I play football at the next level. The academics there are also superb. It would be great to graduate from a school like Stanford because it opens up so many other windows of opportunities in the working world.
"I really love all of the coaches at Texas. And coach (Mack) Brown is a real classy, classy guy. Two of my ex-teammates (Brandon Foster (cornerback) and Ryan Palmer (defensive back) go there and they tell me of Austin and just how great the program is.
"I only talk with the coaches at Texas more though because my coach, Anthony Criss, has developed such a good relationship with coach Brown."
Harris has been to JR Days at both Texas and Texas A&M. He will be at the Scout.com All-American Combine in Waco, Texas on May 22. He also went to Georgia Tech's spring game.
"I want to wait until the season approaches before I commit. I'll do it when me and my family are most comfortable with a school and program."
