Oklahoma Athlete Has Offers

5'9" athletes may get overlooked in many cases, but for Oklahoma City (Okla.) two-way standout LaRon Moore, there is no shortage of interest. The speedster has offers and favorites spanning the breadth of the country, with opportunities to play several positions on both sides of the ball. Read on for the three schools he currently puts on top, and what he likes about each.

Oklahoma City (Okla.) cornerback LaRon Moore (5-9, 184, 4.45) claims to have written offers from Oklahoma State (first to offer) and LSU, as well as verbal offers from Stanford, Louisville, Nebraska and Notre Dame.

"I like Stanford, USC, LSU, Louisville and Oklahoma right now," said Moore, from Midwest City High School. "Out of that five, I'd say that I've got more interest in Stanford, LSU and Oklahoma. Neither Oklahoma or USC have offered me yet.

"All of the schools in my top five look good and they're all recruiting me pretty hard," he said.

"Oklahoma State, Stanford and Notre Dame have all told me that I can play at whatever position I want because I'm such a versatile player. Last year I played quarterback and corner. This year, I'm going to play tailback, wide receiver and corner. In college I'll prefer playing either cornerback or wide receiver. But if the team needs me a certain position, then that's where I'll play."

Moore has already unofficially visited Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. He's been to Junior Days at Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas and SMU.

"I really like how the coaches at Stanford want to get me there for camp this summer," said Moore. "I like the academics there. I'm real high on that in a program… I mean I can't play football forever, and I'm going to need something to fall back on.

"The coaching staff there seems real down-to-earth. Coach [Walt] Harris is the one who is recruiting me. I like their offense and how they also man-up on corner.

"Coach [Les] Miles spotted me when he was with Oklahoma State. He's got a great offense going at LSU and he was recently at my high school and he talked with my coach. They've got a great program and great facilities. I also like their tradition of winning, and how they build their players into such elite athletes. They've got some well-rounded and great players there," he said.

"I'm in touch with some of the coaches at Oklahoma. They want me specifically as a cornerback. I like their high explosive offense and their defense is just unbelievable. Everyone there has got great intensity, and the coaching staff seems to work well with their players both on and off the field. Anytime I've been there they've all made me feel at home.

"A lot of these schools that have verbally offered me want to get me there for camps so that they can see how I perform."

Moore was at the Army All-American Combine in San Antonio in January.

"This summer I want to take in camps at Kansas State, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M. I'm going to wait and see what other offers come in before I make my decision on a program. I'm looking to take my official visits and make it towards the end of the season right now."

Moore will also be at the EA Sports Elite 11 combine at UNLV on June 24.

"I've got great vision, footwork and speed. I also have a great knowledge of the game. I want to just get bigger, faster and stronger… basically improve at everything I do. I need to know more of the game on the fly and on the run."
