ScoutTV: Al Verner (CB/WR)

The Cardinal annually comb the country for student-athletes who can gain admission to the University and elevate the athleticism of the football roster, though the time-tested most productive recruiting region is Southern California. One standout two-way athlete from L.A. this year is Al Verner, and we proudly offer video footage to show you this cornerback/receiver recruit.

Al Verner from Lakewood (Calif.) Mayfair High School is one of exciting two-way standouts in Southern California for the 2006 class.  All-CIF as a junior, the defensive back/wide receiver is a playmaker on both sides of the ball.  The 6'0" 175-pound athlete already holds offers from Boston College, Wyoming and Boise State.  In the Pac-10 he is enjoying a strong recruitment from the likes of Stanford and UCLA.

Here we present two sets of video for you.  In the first, see Verner in action at Mayfair this past season, with highlights first on defense, then at receiver, and finally returning punts.  In the second set of clips, get an up-close look at Verner's body as he runs through agility ladder drills at the recent Stanford Nike Camp.
