Stanford Looks at Louisiana Two-Sporter

Stanford Football has pulled in some of their best players in recent years from Louisiana. Jon Alston, Brandon Harrison, Nick Frank and Anthony Kimble all are expected to be top performers for the Cardinal this fall. A standout Stanford recruit in the Pelican State this year is wide receiver Jared Mitchell, who is also a star on the baseball diamond. His offers and much of his interest comes from the South, but he has one eye on the Cardinal out west.

Louisiana is deep and talented at the wide receiver position this year. The standouts include Ricky Dixon, Chris Mitchell and Jared Mitchell.

Jared, in no relation to Chris, had a breakout performance at the Nike Camp that was held at Ole Miss in April. Mitchell had the 3rd best overall 40 time for the WR's with a 4.47 run.

As a junior, Mitchell had over 2,300 yards of offense while mostly playing quarterback at New Iberia (La.) Westgate High School. He also took a few snaps at wide receiver, where he will most likely end up on the next level.

A two-sport star for Westgate, Mithcell hit over .330 as a junior. He is playing for the Midland Redskins this summer. Midland is a group of select all-stars from across the country, with their league based out of Cincinnati (Ohio).

LSU, Ole Miss, and Tulane have offered Jared an opportunity to play both sports on their ticket. Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, and Stanford are also heavily in the mix.
