Harden Sorting Out Options

Joe Harden, one of the more talented wings in the West Coast class of 2006, has two Big West schools in mind for official visits. Stanford is one of several high major programs who have also expressed some interest...

Joe Harden, 6-5 SR SG Stockton (Calif.) St. Mary's, just returned from a vacation to South Africa and it slowed his recruitment down somewhat. Harden, who was out of the country from August 2nd to the 19th, told us that he does have a couple schools in mind that he'll definitely visit.

‘I've been talking with Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara," said Harden. "We haven't set any dates yet for visits, but we pretty much agreed that I'll visit each of them."

Other schools that have been in contact with Harden include Stanford, Washington State, Oregon and Notre Dame.

"I'd like to take visits to those schools, but I'm not sure about the level of interest with some of them," said Harden. "I talked to Stanford last Saturday and they said they're looking at me and another guy for one spot. But they're focusing on the big guys they're after right now, like Hawes, and asked us to hold on."

We asked Harden if he has cleared the academic hurdles to get into Stanford.

"They've seen my grades and scores," said Harden. "And they said they're still interested in recruiting me.
