Bootleg Video: Trent Edwards Named Starter

Since the hire of quarterbacks guru Walt Harris as the head coach of Stanford Football, we have awaited the answer to who would be named the starting Cardinal quarterback for 2005. That answer came at the end of today's afternoon practice on The Farm, and there was only one video camera there to talk to redshirt junior Trent Edwards after he received the news from Harris that he will start on Sept. 10 at Navy.

Edwards talks with The Bootleg less than an hour after finding out that he will be Stanford's starting quarterback for the season opener in two weeks at Navy.  The quarterback competition remained open between Edwards and T.C. Ostrander since the spring, until today, when Walt Harris told them both after practice of his decision to start Edwards.  It's a smiling day for the redshirt junior from Los Gatos (Calif.), though he says there is still plenty more work to be done...
