Alex Loukas Reshuffles

The news we have been waiting to hear with quarterback recruit Alex Loukas is when he will take his official visit to The Farm. The Deerfield (Ill.) signal caller already tripped to Purdue this month and was schedule for a nearby visit in two weeks. That might now shift to the West Coast as he sorts his favorites anew.

During the summer, Deerfield High School slinger Alex Loukas narrowed his list of college favorites to a top trio.  His recruitment has not been very "newsworthy" since, as he continued with those three favorites and declared that he would have a decision only after his official visits.

His first official visit brought him to Purdue at the first of this month, and then he was scheduled to see Northwestern on October 29.  We have been awaiting the news of his scheduled Stanford visit, which would be his last.  Loukas was looking to a late November or early December weekend, but recent events have brought changes.

"The Stanford visit has not been set up yet, but it's possible in two weeks.  If not, then I'll go out November 19, I think," he shares.

The revelation that Loukas could trip to The Farm the very weekend he had slated for Evanston raises the question: What happened?

"I'm not going anymore because they have a commit, Joe Mauro," he responds.  "Right now Stanford and Purdue are my favorites, and Illinois is third."

The doors to Loukas' recruitment were thought to be closed since the middle of the summer, but with the Wildcats sudden drop, another in-state school has risen to the opportunity.  The Illini are a recent offer, after watching Loukas perform well early in his senior season.  Though his high school team dropped a disappointing homecoming game to Glenbrook North for their first defeat of the season, the Warriors are 7-1 behind Loukas' leadership.  He has scored nine touchdowns through the air with 1,300 passing yards, while adding another 10 scores and 550 yards on the ground.

Alex Loukas is currently Stanford's only offer quarterback in the 2006 class and ranked #39 in the nation at his position by Scout.com.  We will keep tabs on whether he makes an October or November official visit, as his story approaches its climax.  Stay tuned.
