Bootleg Video: Denver Post-Game

For the first time in three weeks, Stanford played in Maples Pavilion, taking down Denver with the best 40 minutes of defense and rebounding we have seen yet this year. It was a bounce-back game for Dan Grunfeld, and a dominating double-double for Matt Haryasz. They and Trent Johnson all talked afterward about the keys to continued Cardinal success.

Haryasz should have been pounding his chest after his 24-point, 13-rebound performance in a game that brought NBA scouts to Maples Pavilion to watch the Stanford senior battle acclaimed 6'11" Yemi Nicholson.  Instead, Haryasz was thankful for a victory and mindful of the defense that brought it home.  The Cardinal did not cruise throughout, however, with the Pioneers putting together a big run in the second half to cut the lead from 20 to just nine points.  Grunfeld, who bounced back on the evening with a solid 19 points and much of the play we knew from him last year, talked afterward about Stanford's job withstanding the surge.  This was an effort from which that the players and their head coach feel they can and must build.
