Family Feud and Fun

After a successful official visit to a Pac-10 rival, Stanford running back recruit Toby Gerhart now proclaims that his is a two-horse race. The record breaking back says that his January trip to The Farm will be his last, and afterward he will make his college commitment. The battle lines are drawn, and just a few weeks remain before the two-sport standout makes his decision...

Running back Toby Gerhart (6-0, 215, 4.5) from Norco (Calif.) finished his senior season with 3,233 yards rushing and 39 touchdowns. His team was 13-1 for the year.

"My top two right now are Stanford (50%) and UCLA (50%)," Gerhart said. Those two lead solidly over Ole Miss, Utah and Duke. All of his favorites have offered.

Gerhart will be taking his final official visit to Stanford on January 13. He visited Mississippi on November 11, Utah on November 4 and UCLA on December 16.

"I loved my visit to UCLA," Gerhart said. "The family atmosphere of the program is great. I love how close all the players are. The school is really nice and I liked all the facilities. It was cool because we got to go to their Christmas awards dinner and that was fun. It was nice to see everyone relaxed and having fun. The coaches brought their families and they played family feud, which was great. It was just a lot of fun."

He says that he will make his decision shortly after his Stanford visit. "The quality of education at Stanford is unbeatable and they have a really great baseball program too," Gerhart said. "Also, their team is still up-and-coming and I'd be able to contribute early there.

"Ultimately, I think it'll come down to my trip to Stanford. I really like UCLA, but Stanford has a lot to offer too. I'll try to make my decision soon after that visit. I'll have to weigh all my options and discuss things with my parents."

He reports a 4.6 GPA and a 1810 SAT.
