The Bootleg Magazine To Debut

Los Altos, CA – May 21, 2002 –Major Upset Productions, Inc. and Citadel Publishing have announced the launch of The Bootleg, The Magazine. The magazine will debut in August 2002 as a monthly magazine published ten times a year.

The magazine will be printed in an eye-catching glossy format similar to other high quality magazines like Sports Illustrated and will consist of feature articles and information covering all aspects of Stanford University's sports teams and student-athletes.

The Bootleg provides comprehensive coverage of Stanford sports through its website at and is the leading independent online destination devoted to Cardinal athletics.

The Bootleg co-founder and publisher Lars Ahlstrom (Stanford '82) said the goal of the magazine is to deliver comprehensive, dedicated coverage of Stanford sports.

"There is a significant disparity between the level of coverage Stanford fans can expect from traditional media sources and the volume of information these fans crave," he said. "The Bootleg helps to fill this gap."

The Bootleg began publishing in 1994 as a weekly newsletter on Stanford football. In 1999, the newsletter moved online to become The high-traffic Website is now devoted to all Cardinal sports and has attracted a daily following of several thousand fans and other visitors.
