Haryasz is as hot as any player in the conference right now, scoring over 20 points and shooting north of 50% in each of his last five games, with an average of 24.4 points on 60.6% shooting. The 6'11" Stanford center/forward today ranks third in the conference in scoring (19.0 ppg), second in rebounding (9.1 rpg), first in offensive rebounding (3.27 rpg), fifth in blocked shots (1.47 bpg) and fifth in field goal percentage (51.0%). The Cardinal are surging as well, winners of six of their last seven to take a surprising tie for second place in the Pac-10 race at the midpoint of the conference schedule.
Why is Haryasz so improved the last three weeks in his play, particularly scoring the basketball at a high percentage? Keep in mind that the Stanford big man has had a proclivity for shooting jumpers facing the basket, which was a big reason he carried a career 47.2% clip coming into this year and was shooting just 45.5% for the season three short weeks ago.
