Bootleg Video: Matt Manship

Rain today drove away this evening's series opener at Sunken Diamond for #24 Stanford vs. #7 Texas, but that does not mean you have to go without some Cardinal Baseball. We have an interview with scheduled Game #2 starter senior Matt Manship, who as a Texas native carries something extra into this weekend. He talks about playing the Longhorns, as well as his adjustment in a starting role this year.

Manship is a son of San Antonio (Tex.), who grew up in a sea of Texas fans.  The 2002 Texas Player of the Year decided to escape the Lone Star State to attend college at The Farm, which adds to the intrigue when he takes the mound in Game #2 of this weekend's series against the Longhorns.  Take away the backdrop, and there is still plenty to discuss with Manship.  Used exclusively as a closer in 2005, the 6'4" righty is now a starter in '06 and still learning how to throw extended innings.  Manship has a 0.00 ERA in the first three innings of his two starts this year, but each time he was chased from the game before finishing the fourth frame (combined seven earned runs).

The Texas native talks to us about all this and more in this Wednesday interview after Stanford's JV game at Sunken Diamond.
