Join The Bootleg Basketball Trivia Challenge!

You used to think of the Pac-10 Tournament and the famed Big Dance. But we are now redefining March Madness with the introduction of the biggest tournament of all. The Bootleg Basketball Trivia Challenge, the first of its kind, will launch Wednesday March 8 and give Stanford fans everywhere the chance to compete and test their knowledge of Cardinal Hoops history, numbers and factoids.

Most Cardinalmaniacs™ have next Thursday March 9 circled on their calendars, with Stanford tipping off their opening game of the 2006 Pac-10 Tournament.  But before that action gets underway at the Staples Center, a furious tournament will already be underway that will capture and challenge Stanford Basketball fans around the globe.

On Wednesday March 8 at 4 p.m. Pacific, The Bootleg Basketball Trivia Challenge will begin.  This online contest will span three days and give contestants 15 individual games to test their knowledge of Cardinal Basketball.  We, along with proud partner Tournabout, Inc. (www.tournabout.com), triumphantly announce this innovative challenge today, and hereby open the contest registration to all comers.  Only registered players can participate in the contest.

Take 30 seconds right now to register, and make sure to select a Player ID that matches your username on TheBootleg.com's message boards.  Many denizens of the Convivial Conclave for Cardinalmaniacs™ believe themselves to be experts on all things that are Stanford Basketball.  Now we can fairly and cleanly crown the true kings and queens of Cardinal Hoopdom.

  • When did Stanford hold an unblemished court at Maples Pavilion?
  • Who did the Cardinal defeat to clinch their first Pac-10 championship?
  • In what year did Stanford sign its first McDonald's All-American?
  • How many wins did Mike Montgomery amass on The Farm?
  • Where did Stanford suffer its first loss of the 2003-04 season?

All questions are multiple choice, with 10 questions per game.  You can play up to five games per day during each of the three days (March 8-10) of The Bootleg Basketball Trivia Challenge.  The questions are timed, with higher scores rewarding quicker correct answers.

The brainchild of The Bootleg co-founder Jim Rutter (Stanford Class of '86) and Tournabout co-founder Mike Musson (Stanford Class of '86), The Bootleg Basketball Trivia Challenge combines the strengths of these two companies.  Rutter's unparalleled archival information on Stanford Athletics is brought to life by Musson's ContestMaker™ 1.0 platform.  Tournabout's ContestMaker provides players with not only a real-time trivia challenge experience, but also an alert engine, player statistics and history, and real-time leaderboard rankings.

Tournabout develops, markets and supports ContestMaker™ 1.0, a client-server software application which is sold through a direct sales force in the United States.  The ContestMaker™ Platform and related services are offered as either a hosted turnkey solution or through perpetual licenses.  The company offers installation and support services on a time and materials basis or as an annual fee.

The Bootleg Basketball Trivia Challenge is an exciting offering and proud innovation, further broadening the scope of our industry leading Stanford Athletics entertainment for Cardinalmaniacs™ and serving as a proof of concept that we look forward to repeating in the future.  But to sweeten the pot for your full participation, we are offering modest prizes - beyond the invaluable richness that comes with being crowned a king or queen of Cardinal Hoops trivia.  More than pride on the line, you can walk away with some trivial prizes to reward your trivia mastery!

Register today and lock up your Player ID for The Bootleg Basketball Trivia Challenge, plus future contests hosted by The Bootleg and Tournabout.  After you are registered, we will contact you with more of the contest timing, rules and details.

We'll see you Wednesday at The Bootleg Basketball Trivia Challenge.  Good luck!
