The 6'1" graduate of Palo Alto High School is the number one surprise story for Stanford Baseball this year. After failing to appear on the mound in his freshman year, the second-year righthander has thrown in four games and racked up two wins and a save in this young 2006 season. Stringer was named Pac-10 Player of the week after picking up his pair of wins in 10.1 innings against Nevada and Fresno State, striking out 15 batters against just one walk. The sophomore owns a 1.46 ERA, and nobody is more excited about his break-out than him. He talked with us last week about growing up a Cardinal fan, walking on at Stanford, and how he made the incredible leap from his invisible freshman year to this stunning sophomore start.
