A collective exhale of relief blew upon the doors of the clubhouse this morning when Stanford Baseball saw their place in the 2006 NCAA Tournament bracket unveiled on live television. One of the biggest reasons this team has rallied and survived after a sub-.500 overall record and last-place stance in the Pac-10 standings a couple months ago is the play and leadership of senior Chris Minaker. His .346 batting average, .574 slugging percentage, 11 home runs, 82 hits, 64 RBI and 39 runs all lead the turnaround Cardinal.
Immediately following the announcement that Stanford will continue into the post-season, and that Minaker's college career will continue at the Austin Regional that includes Texas and North Carolina State, the senior sat down with The Bootleg and other local media to talk about this celebratory moment, the team's season-ending comeback, his sterling season, the excitement of playing in Austin, teammate Chris Lewis ' turnaround - and more.
