He made a silent commitment to Stanford late in his junior year, but he burst onto the public radar last month when he made his Cardinal intentions public. Thomas Keiser answers one of two pressing needs for Stanford at tight end and defensive end this year, and he is thus far the only member of the '07 commit class with that body type. Playing in the WPIAL playoffs and capping his prep career, Keiser battled head-to-head against two local Pittsburgh standouts who also happen to be ranked by Scout.com as the third- and 11th-ranked tight end prospects in the nation.
You can watch big #89 for North Allegheny High School work at defensive end in new highlight video footage to see his abilities on that side of the ball, thanks to the work by Scout.com East recruiting analyst Bob Lichtenfels.
"Keiser is a perfect example of why in this business, evaluations never stop," Lichtenfels tells us after reviewing Keiser's senior tape. "Here is a player who was a relative unknown, and late in the season and during the playoffs we see him going against two of the top 15 players in the state and more than holding his own. He went from unknown to a Top 50 player in the state."
"I like Keiser as that anchor end type player on defense," he continues. "He does not give up ground very often and has a very strong lower body and non-stop drive. He continuously gets a solid upfield push. He is solid against the run, is deceptively quick and can apply pressure to the QB as well."
