ScoutTV: George Halamandaris (OT)

Our long national nightmare is over. Cardinalmaniacs™ have been craving video of 6'7" offensive tackle commit George Halamandaris since he blew onto our radar May 1, 2006 with his Stanford commitment. We are pleased to now present some highlight clips of the 300-plus pounder from Moorpark (Calif.) High School in action in a CIF playoff game.

We have been thirsting since the spring of last year for video of the first Cardinal commit in the Class of 2007.  We finally secured game tape of George Halamandaris and his Moorpark (Calif.) High School team in action during the playoffs in late November against Saugus (Calif.) High School.  The Musketeers manufactured a 37-15 win, powered by the running of superstar 2008 tailback Darrell Scott - 277 yards and four touchdowns.

It is video from just one game, but take a look at how Halamandaris helped plow holes in the running game, playing offensive tackle on the strongside of the Moorpark defense.  The big 6'7" lineman wears #72 and in most of the plays is at right tackle.  You will find him at left tackle on a couple snaps as the Musketeers reverse the strength of their offensive formation.

"Halamandaris' strength is as a run blocker, and he has big, long arms which allow him to engage the defender," offers Scout.com California recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman.  "In pass blocking, he plays a little too high and needs to bend his knees more.  His size, though, make him a difficult matchup for undersized linemen, and he was a big part of Moorpark running back Darrell Scott's monster season.  Could play either tackle or guard in college and could be really effective inside because of his size."
