California 2008 Prospects: Defense

Last week, Stanford signed five in-state prospects, though none of them are projected to play defense. The Cardinal will look to mine more talent inside the Golden State in the 2008 class. Here is a look at some of the best junior defensive prospects in California.

The defensive linemen in California will be strong in 2008, led by Horton and Casey. The Jackson twins are solid prospects and Jarrett may be the most versatile linemen in the state.

McDonald has prototypical linebacker size and excellent bloodlines while also comes from a fine football family, though he will likely play safety in college. Carter is a star in the City while McGee is one of the best from the Inland Empire. Amack, Andrews and Stuckey are the best in Northern California.

Moore is the best safety in the state and Golden is the best cornerback prospect in the state, and both come from programs that are visited yearly by colleges. Moutra could be a bigtime receiver but safety is probably his best spot and Woods also could play on offense. Leslie and Bland are both solid prospects in the secondary.
