Bootleg Radio: 1977 Sun Bowl Reunion
"BootlegRadio" hit the Chuck Taylor Grove hard Saturday to catch up with some of the key members of the 1977 Sun Bowl team that was honored with a nice half-time tribute on the occasion of the sensational season's 30-year anniversary (wow, hard to believe!). Unfortunately, it pretty much ended up being the highlight of the afternoon. Great fun reminiscing about the Cardinal's 24-14 upset win over four-point-favorite LSU at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, which capped off an outstanding 9-3 campaign for first-year head coach Bill Walsh.
In Part II, we visit with two of the 1977 team's three great Gordon's: Ceresino and King (the other being RB/WR Gordon Banks)
Gordy Ceresino: 1977 Sun Bowl Most Outstanding Defensive Player and All Century Team linebacker (3:56) -
Don't forget - Ceresino had 18 unassisted tackles (22 total) in a memorable performance in the 1977 Sun Bowl.
Gordon King, Part I: All-American offensive tackle and #10 pick of the 1978 NFL draft (5:25) -
Gordon King, Part II: All-American offensive tackle and #10 pick of the 1978 NFL draft (2:47) -
