Rules: Simple - A kid submits a creative work of art, we vote for the best efforts, a few deserving youngsters receive some minor glory, recognition and a nice prize. It must be "original" artwork, without parental assistance in the actual work - creative assistance is permitted.
Theme: Eligible artwork must relate primarily to an artistic depiction of Stanford Football, a Stanford Football-related subject and/or may a represent an expression of unbridled enthusiasm for Stanford Football. Extra credit if the artwork includes a tribute to the great Leon Vickers, wherever he may be.
Art Medium: Submissions may consist of any of the following: pencil, pen, marker or crayon drawings, paintings, watercolors, preferably on standard 8.5" x 11" paper (but be aware that we are only able to accept digital file submissions (JPEG or PDF). If kids really want to get ambitious, we will accept submissions of needlepoint, patchwork quilting, spirographs, laser wood-carving, marble sculptures, blown glass, chainsaw ice-carving and feature-length animated 3-D movies. We will accept anything reasonable, but no photos please. A "Bootleg Photo Contest" is planned for later in the 2010 season (We can already hear Steve Durrett's camera snapping!)
Dates/Submission Deadline: The Contest will begin on Thursday, August 25, 2010 and will end no later than 8:00PM, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 8:00 pm Pacific Time.
Entries will be accepted by e-mail to email@example.com.
Cost: There is not cost to participate in the Contest. No purchase is necessary.
Rounds: There will be only one
round in this Contest in determining
Age Groups: Entries may be submitted in three age-group categories:
"KinderCardeners": Ages 0-5,
"First Downers": Ages 6-9
"Junior Rooters": Ages 10-12
Note: Entries submitted by individuals 13 and over will be ineligible to participate in the Contest. Members of families of current Stanford student-athletes and members of families of Stanford University employees may participate, but are NOT eligible for prizes. This Contest is not associated with Scout, Fox Sports, the Stanford University Athletic Department or the Stanford University and the choice of subject matter does not imply any endorsement of the Contest or the Sponsor by the Stanford University Athletic Department or Stanford University. Just so we have those bases covered. Thank you.
Prizes: To be determined, but trust us, there will be several choices and they will be wicked cool.
Gallery of Gridiron Glory:
The top four works of Cardinal Football artwork in each category, as determined by a highly distinguished panel of kid-friendly judges, including "Emeritus-Hottie" and "Lars82-Hottie", will be published as a special art gallery on TheBootleg.com website, providing glory and exposure to those young artists who distinguish themselves with talent, creativity and zeal. Sorry, youth sports veterans, at The Bootleg, we don't reward anyone for simply "participating", although we may choose to offer, at our sole discretion, a nice ribbon for "Ninth Place".
Submission: Please scan (or photograph) and e-mail the gifted young person's entry art to firstname.lastname@example.org and include 1) the entrant's first name, 2) entrant's city of residence, and 3) entrant's age at time of submission.
Orientation: If possible, please try to have the young Cardinalmaniac create his or her art in "Portrait" (vertical) rather than "Landscape" (horizontal) orientation (see feature art sample photo accompanying this notice - provided by my own daughter Ava on short notice and under stifling pressure as bedtime was approaching).
Eligibility: The Contest is open to residents of the United States, Canada, and members of NAFTA who are 12 years of age or younger at the time the Contest ends. Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives and independent contractors (and their immediate family members and members of the same households, whether related or not) of Major Upset Productions, Inc. ARE eligible to participate. The Contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law or regulation. Participants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decisions of the Sponsor which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to the Contest. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any participant that it determines, in its sole discretion, is ineligible to participate in the Contest.
Electronic entries must include a valid e-mail address for the entrant's parent or legal guardian. In the event of a dispute as to the identity or eligibility of a winner based on an e-mail address, the winning entry will be declared made by the "Authorized Account Holder" [defined as the natural person who is assigned to the email address by an Internet Access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.)] of the email address submitted at the time of the entry.
Summary: In order to enter the Contest, you must provide your first name, age, and email address, The decisions of the Sponsor's Selection Committee are final. The winner of the "2010 Card-Kids Art Contest" Prizes may be required to execute an affidavit of eligibility, a release of any and all liability from any claims for damages, losses or injury against Sponsor and/or any of its agents or contractors arising from use of the prize, and such other forms as the Sponsor may require.
The full names of the participants and winners will
not be made public by the Sponsor. All entries become the property of Major
Upset Productions, Inc. and will not be returned. Entries may be used
by Major Upset Productions, Inc. for any purpose without the
permission of the participant or any consideration apart from participation in
the Contest in accordance with these official rules. Major Upset Productions,
Inc. may, but is under no obligation to, verify the information set forth in an
entry prior to publication. Major Upset Productions, Inc. may, whether or not
the work or art is selected as a winner, publish it on The Bootleg website and
in any other form.
Limitation of Liability: If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the Contest, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers computer equipment, software, failure of any email to be received by the Sponsor on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest.
By participating in the Contest, each participant agrees to release and hold the Sponsor harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with or resulting from participation in the Contest and/or acceptance, possession, or use of any prize(s) including, without limitation, personal injuries, death, property damages and any claims by third parties or otherwise based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. Entrants acknowledge that Sponsor is not responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any Prize.
Jurisdiction: Any dispute that
may arise hereunder shall be brought solely in the appropriate state or federal
court sitting in California, and participants consent to the personal
jurisdiction and venue of such court.
