McGill Talks Orange

Marcus McGill was one of the few Northeast Region prospects to be given early star rankings today by Scout.com and we spoke with the Rochester, N.Y., native about what his feelings are toward in-state up and comer Syracuse.

Marcus McGill, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound wide receiver from Gates-Chili High School hasn't landed his first verbal offer yet, however from his junior film he definitely looks like a player that will be landing one from the in-state Orange. We spoke to him tonight about his familiarity with the school and the program.

"I was at Syracuse for their spring game as a sophomore and I attended their game against Maine this year, so I'm very familiar with the campus and everything," McGill stated. "You could see during the game they've really progressed from previous seasons and as a receiver, I really like that their passing game has evolved here with the new coaching staff."

"I plan on pursuing a career in sports journalism and broadcasting and they have the best school to go to for that, so it's a big bonus that I'd be set academically there while I'm playing for a good football program," McGill added. "The coaching staff was really cool with me and seems pretty honest which I can respect. I actually just emailed Coach (Bob) Casullo three days ago and he got back to me to let me know they were interested and that they'd be getting back to me when their season was over."

As a junior, McGill caught 25 catches for 502 yards and six touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass. He also returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. On defense he had 27 tackles, four pass break-ups and four interceptions from his cornerback position.
