McCummings Has SU Ties

Elliott McCummings is a talented two-sport athlete from Pennsauken, N.J., that is getting letters from plenty of programs, however the only school he's visited so far has been Syracuse. We spoke to him on Tuesday evening about his visit to see the Orange play Connecticut.

Elliott McCummings, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver from Gloucester Catholic High School went to Syracuse for a visit a few weeks ago and a family connection with the school could help the Orange in his recruiting.

"I went up to Syracuse two weeks ago for their game against Connecticut and they have a really nice campus," McCummings stated. "I talked to the wide receivers coach Rob Moore when I got up there and my dad actually knows him because his cousin played with him at Syracuse, so they know each other. He just told me to keep up the hard work and said to call him if I needed anything."

"It was a good game and Syracuse drove the ball really well, but they had some stupid penalties and that really hurt them as they ended up punting," McCummings explained. "I think if they didn't make those mistakes they actually end up winning that game which is the tough part about it. They're a good team, but they beat themselves that day. It was a good atmosphere in the Carrier Dome and there were a lot of people there. The fans were really intense and it was a good visit."

"I've also gotten mail from Penn State, Temple, Rutgers, UCLA, West Virginia and Duke at this point," McCummings added. "I was really surprised UCLA has been on me as hard as they have because I get a lot of emails from them and they try to get me out to games, so that's been a bit crazy."

As a junior, McCummings caught 44 passes for 489 yards and six touchdowns.

McCummings batted a league leading .519 for his school's baseball team as a sophomore to go along with 25 stolen bases. He is also being looked at by colleges as a baseball player.
